While unusual and possibly even useful, bamboo can be a problem if it gets out of control. Here we have a patch which needs to be gone!

The owner had previously tried digging and burning it out, even involving other members of the family, but gave up in the end and called me instead. In the top photo you can see where the roots have spread out sideways (some in the foreground, just visible beneath the grass)

A few hours later we’re left with the big root ball you see here. It’s tough work but I do enjoy a challenge like this! The root was cut into manageable-sized pieces, and the owner said he would dispose of it
